SIMCOE

Simcoe is a historic town in southwestern Ontario, serving as the county seat of Norfolk County. Established in 1795, it was named after John Graves Simcoe, the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada. Simcoe grew from a small hamlet centered around a mill granted milling privileges by Simcoe himself to a thriving community. Incorporated as a village in 1851 and later as a town in 1878, Simcoe's strategic location contributed to its development as a regional administrative and commercial hub. Today, it boasts a population of over 16,000 residents and continues to serve as the administrative center of Norfolk County .
